D'oh

The word "D'oh," as popularized by the idiot character Homer, from the Simpson's, is a word that I rarely use. Maybe it's because I'm nearly perfect and rarely make mistakes... =P

Anyways, I just had a D'oh moment a minute ago when I was making some post-workout shakes for myself and Burton. You see, Burton and I are going on vacation in a few weeks and so we committed to doing Insanity for 60 days. We figured it was the quickest way for the best results. Honestly, at first I was doubtful about finishing the program. I am a workout lightweight and have never run past 2 miles, hiked more than 30 minutes, nor been able to complete an hour of yoga. And Insanity is insane intense insanity. You know how God is so holy that He is described as holy, holy, holy? Well, this program is insane insane insane. I almost threw up many times during this program.

Needless to say, it is a miracle that I made it this far into week 3 out of 6. Frustratingly, I have not seen any change in weight, but I haven't made any real adjustments to my diet since starting the workout program. And yes, I know I know, muscle weighs more than fat...we're moving on.  We don't really eat too poorly; we have always controlled our portions at home and have eaten things like whole grain, lots of fruit and veggies, etc. One change we have made in our diet is adding protein shakes.  I usually blend a scoop or two of protein powder, some ice, almond milk, a scoop of greek yogurt, and half a banana.  I always buy fat free Greek yogurt because it has a buttload of protein.

Well, this is when my D'oh moment happened.  This Monday Burton and I bought more yogurt because we've been eating a tub per week.  We just got whatever was on sale, and I've been putting it in our shakes.

Today.  After a grueling workout.  I just wanted a non-fat protein shake.  The moment I put the yogurt into the magic bullet cup, I looked at the container and saw something that made me go, uh what? (make sure when you read that last part your voice goes up on the "what")

10%.  10% milk fat.  WHAT?

Then I saw on the nutrition label that 1 cup of yogurt had 36% of the daily recommended amount of saturated fat.  I haven't even had 2% milk since I was 10!

HAHA.  I've been feeding Burton like he is a starving child.

D'oh.

And another famous quote: '" 'To Start Press Any Key'. Where's the ANY key?"
