Drip drip

Readers, you know that I've been having headaches and migraines lately and I think they are because of my ferocious immune response to the pollen. aka seasonal hay fever =(

I usually take Allegra, Flonaze, and Nasonex in various combinations and all three if it's a terrible day. I dont know about you, but I hate taking a lot of drugs. So I set out to find an alternative method and came upon the Neti Pot. Well, it's not the Neti, but a saline squirt bottle that shoots saline through one nostril and the gunk/mucous/dirty saline comes out the other.

Today, I tried it and I did not like the initial feeling of introducing water up into my sinuses, but after I established a steady flow, it didn't feel too bad! I followed the instructions, shot water up one nostril, then switched to the other. Let me tell you: it works! I saw snot and junk come out and I'm a believer! I blew my nose, spit out the residue that came to the oral cavity, and wiped my nose clean. Then I came to the living room to read something. I propped my elbows on my legs and leaned over, and what do you know. Saline started DRIPPING out of my nose!

I thought I got all of that junk out! But apparently not... I don't know how I feel about that part of the process. What if I do the saline wash right before seeing friends, or a stranger (worse!) and something comes dripping out of my nose. I mean, I'm a pretty awkward person and I thrive on it sometimes. But this could just be the end to my social career. Not that I have one...but I'd like one some day ;)

Btw, why am I receiving one of these bimonthly??

  1. Hey Candice,

I found your blog! It was great to see you this weekend and good luck on your exam this week!

By the way, this entry made me nauseated. ;)

  2. ewwww.

have you tried Claritin-D? It works for me (better than normal claritin). But i have mild allergies so maybe it won't work for you as well.

anyways, hope you and burton are doing well! :D

  3. Claritin-D was my first line of defense back in 2003. I became so tolerant I needed to take a dose every couple of hours! And, it made me feel "fuzzy" and not myself. I can't really explain it, but it made me feel like I had no emotions and I didn't like that =( So I'm glad I found alternate methods. Thanks!
